Northwest Missouri State M-Club Hall of Fame
When Mike Peterson transferred to Northwest after playing a year of college baseball, it would have been hard for him to imagine his career would be filled with so many highlights when his tenure came to a close.
Â
He was a difficult matchup for any opposing defense – too quick for linebackers and two powerful for defensive backs. He was at his best in some of this team’s biggest games. During 13 career playoff games, he was never held without a catch and currently ranks 4th in both receptions and receiving yards during his playoff career. His 2005 title game effort – 9 catches, 150 yards and a touchdown - nearly pushed the upstart Bearcats to an upset of #1 Grand Valley State. At the time that performance stood as the 5th most yards by a receiver in a championship game in the 32-year history of the Division II title game. Mike would help his team return to that title game two more times before his career ended. Although he was not ultimately part of a national championship winner, there was no denying his tremendous impact on keeping the Bearcats among the nation’s elite throughout that time.

There are first-team All-MIAA and multiple All-America team selections on his resume. The Atlantic, Iowa native’s career marks of 141 catches, 17 TDs and just under 2,000 yards receiving all rank as top 10 marks in school history.
