Diane Kloewer

Defiance, Iowa produced one of the greatest women’s basketball players to ever wear the Bearcat uniform. Diane Kloewer never had a losing season while she was a member of the Bearcat basketball team, culminating with an MIAA title and a 25-5 record during her senior season.

While the team accomplishments were impressive, it was her individual achievements that solidified her place among the all-time greats. Her 633 points during her senior year are a record for points scored by a Bearcat in a single season. She was a model of consistency during that ‘84 season scoring at least 15 points a game in 26 of her teams’ 30 contests. For her career she is fourth all-time in points scored and second in career scoring average.

Kloewer was not only a scorer, but made contributions all over the court. She ranks in the top ten all-time in career steals and rebounds. She is one of 16 players in Northwest history to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds in a career. In 1983 and 1984, she was named to the All-MIAA First Team, and was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 1984. In addition, she was chosen as an NCAA post-graduate scholarship recipient upon the completion of her degree.

Today, Diane is currently living in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska.
