From the moment she left Bassett, Nebraska and stepped on campus, Diann Davis Thorne began making her mark on the Northwest volleyball program. As a freshman in 1994, she finished in the MIAA top ten in three categories and the Bearcats had an impressive 11-win improvement over the previous year. Her ability to lead her team to victory helped propel her to selections to All-MIAA teams in 1995, 1996 and 1997.

Diann consistently led her team in several statistical categories throughout her time with the Bearcats. She was the season leader in total blocks and points all four years, while leading the team in kills and attacks for three seasons. She is ranked first in Northwest history in blocks, kills, and points. She also is second all-time in kills per set and fourth in career attacking percentage.  She was selected as the MIAA player of the week three times in her career and even today, still holds the conference record for most total blocks in a career with an impressive 748.

Diann’s success did not just end when she left the court. She was honored by the MIAA three times for her scholastic achievements by being selected for the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She also led her team to two AVCA Team Academic Award honors in 1995 and 1996.  In her four year career, the Bearcats would accumulate an impressive 84 total victories.
