The Northwest Missouri State outdoor track and field teams are headed west for a packed week of competition in California. The Bearcats will compete in three different meets, beginning with the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa on Wednesday, April 16. On Thursday, April 17, Northwest will take part in the Cal State L.A. Twilight Open in Los Angeles and the ULV Leopard Invitational in La Verne.
Competition at both the Bryan Clay Invitational and the ULV Leopard Invitational will carry over into Friday, April 18.
PREVIOUSLY ON THE TRACK
The Northwest women's outdoor track and field team tallied 127 points to dominate the late-night Mule Relays last Friday in Warrensburg, Mo. The Bearcat men secured 4th with 65 team points.
Bearcat men rank No. 7 in USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award Standings
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has released its mid-year Program of the Year Award update, ranking the Northwest Missouri State men's cross country and indoor track and field teams at No. 7.
The Bearcats have accumulated 15 POY points, placing 10th in cross country and 5th in indoor track and field. Northwest is one of only three MIAA programs ranked among the top 16 in Division II, joining Pittsburg State and Washburn.
