Bearcat women cruise to team title at Mule Relays

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Northwest Missouri State women's outdoor track and field team tallied 127 points to dominate the late-night Mule Relays on Friday.

The Bearcat men secured 4th with 65 team points. 
 
FIELD EVENTS
  • (W) Javelin: Luisarys Toledo took 4th in the event, launching a best throw of 45.75-meters (150-1) on her second attempt. 
  • (W) Shot Put: Newcomer Kelsey Fields threw 12.70 meters (41-8) on her final attempt to place 9th.
  • (M) High Jump: Jeremiah Rainey-Dunlap jumped 2.01-meters (6-07.00) to claim runner-up in the event. 
  • (M) Triple Jump: David Parker II provided a best jump of 13.65 meters (44-09-50) on his first jump to secure 9th. 
  • (W) Discus: Alli Poage placed 23rd with a best throw of 36.07 meters (118-4), as Kelsey Fields threw 35.67 meters (117-1) to claim 26th. 
 
RUNNING EVENTS
  • (M) 110m Hurdles: Moses Koroma recorded the fastest qualifying time at 14.34 – the second-best time in program history. Frank Sparks followed with the third-fastest time of 14.51. Vashon Riggins secured a 16th-place finish at 15.69. In the finals, Koroma was edged out, placing 2nd with a faster time of 14.28. Sparks finished 6th with a mark of 14.70.
  • (W) 100m Hurdles: Two Bearcats advanced to the finals. Grace Hill posted the fifth-fastest prelim time at 15.11, just ahead of Hannah Hatzenbuehler at 15.18. Millie Wempen placed 26th with a time of 17.08. Hill climbed to 3rd in the finals, finishing in 14.81, while Hatzenbuehler followed in 4th at 14.82.
  • (M) 100m: In prelims, Joel Dos Santos clocked in at 10.59 to secure the third-fastest qualifying time, with Dominic Sedlacek just behind in fourth at 10.60. Zac Anderson placed 23rd at 11.00, Frank Sparks returned from hurdles to place 30th at 11.10, and Xavier Horn took 32nd at 11.12. Dos Santos and Sedlacek did not start in the finals.
  • (W) 100m: Campbell Barta ran the second-fastest qualifying time in the field at 11.80. Jaurdin Mallory also qualified for finals with a 12.08. Kyah Luhring placed 11th at 12.25, followed by Krysta Abel at 12.27. Hallie Henfling finished 15th at 12.25, Peyton Holmes took 19th at 12.54, while Courtney Kiley (12.85) and Reese Brown (13.23) placed 27th and 39th, respectively. Barta remained in 2nd, finishing at 11.89. Mallory secured 4th with a 12.14.
  • (W) 3000m Steeplechase: Ava Gehlen and Marissa Roberts both recorded top-10 finishes. Gehlen placed 9th at 12:01.45, with Roberts right behind in 10th at 12:10.72.
  • (W) 1500m: Competing unattached, Alyna Thibault claimed the event win with a time of 4:41.71.
  • (M) 1500m: Levi Allen placed 20th at 4:02.97, with Andres Kemper finishing 23rd at 4:05.56.
  • (W) 400m: Tiffany Hughey and Melanie Roland finished back-to-back in 2nd and 3rd, with times of 53.99 and 55.14, respectively.
  • (M) 400m: Keith Griffin III opened his outdoor season with a winning time of 46.99, the fourth-best mark in Northwest history. Christian Lanphier (49.55) and Juan Hernandez (49.65) placed 12th and 13th, while Zach Pittman finished 21st at 50.81.
  • (W) 800m: All three Bearcats finished in the top five. Marie Dea won the event with a time of 2:11.91. Jadyn Barnes followed in 2nd at 2:12.48, and Federica Lega placed 4th at 2:17.93.
  • (M) 800m: Bret Beard took 12th with a time of 1:54.60. Bentley St. John came in 20th at 1:55.84, with Andres Kemper and Ryker Pithan placing 26th and 31st, respectively, out of 44 runners.
  • (W) 400m Hurdles: Jaedy Commins (1:01.68) and Anjelena Carder (1:02.91) swept the top two spots in the 23-runner field. Millie Wempen placed 12th with a time of 1:09.72.
  • (W) 200m: Tiffany Hughey captured the title, finishing in 23.96. Chloe Saenz followed in 3rd at 24.64. Krysta Abel (26.07) and Courtney Kiley (26.26) placed 15th and 17th, with Peyton Holmes in 22nd at 26.42.
  • (M) 200m: Gavyn Monday finished 5th with a time of 21.61, while Juan Hernandez came in 11th at 22.16. Xavier Horn (22.66) and Christian Lanphier (22.69) placed 30th and 32nd, with Zach Pittman rounding out the group in 43rd at 22.86.
  • (W) 5000m: Lou Maquaire placed 3rd, coming in at a time of 17:18.95 in a hefty field of 46 competitors. Maquaire's time places her third in Bearcat history. 
  • (M) 5000m: In a tight race, Brandon Mundorf took the crown with a time of 14:29.76
  • (W) 10000m: Shelby Harris provided a personal-best mark of 38:07.48, quicker than her 38:27.42 time on May 4 of last season to placed third. 
  • (M) 10000m: John Langill led the Bearcat trio with a 3rd place finish at 31.25.82. Austin Goetsche (31:59.02) and Nick Kilonzo (32:12.55) placed 5th and 6th. 
 
RELAYS
  • (W) 4x100m: The Bearcats had two teams compete in the event. Northwest's "A" squad took runner-up with a time of 46.09 – sits fourth in program history, while the "B" team secured 4th at 48.31. 
  • (M) 4x100m: Northwest's "A" team claimed the event title, crossing the line at a blistering time of 40.17 – a mark that stands as the fourth-fastest in school history.
