LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Freshman
Marissa Roberts took home the 3,000-meter Steeplechase crown, as the Northwest Missouri State track and field teams opened its outdoor season at the Spire Distance Carnival Friday night.
(M) 800m:
Bret Beard secured 3rd place among 37 competitors, clocking in at 1:55.94.
Bentley St. John followed closely, finishing 6th with a time of 1:57.84.
(M) 1500m: In a field of 87 participants,
John Langill led the Bearcat trio with a 27th-place finish, crossing the line at 4:08.84.
Andres Kemper (4:11.26) and
Austin Goetsche (4:15.88) placed 32nd and 45th, respectively.
(W) 1500m: Three Bearcats earned top 10 finishes in the event.
Olivia Bakker took 4th with a time of 4:46.66, while
Lou Maquaire (4:50.28) and
Bree Mauro (4:52.84) claimed 7th and 8th, respectively.
Shelby Harris rounded out the group in 22nd place with a time of 5:05.85.
(M) 3000m Steeplechase: Freshmen
Elijah Dix (10:08.07) and
Nick Kilonzo (10:31.06) were the lone Bearcats in the event. Dix placed 4th, with Kilonzo finishing 6th.
(W) 3000m Steeplechase:
Marissa Roberts captured Northwest's only event title of the night, winning with a time of 12:15.92. Roberts dominated the field of four, finishing nearly a minute ahead of the next competitor.
