MARYVILLE, Missouri - The No. 30-ranked Northwest Missouri State women's tennis team toppled the No. 29-ranked Southwest Baptist squad Saturday on the Frank Grube Courts at the
Mark Rosewell Tennis Center.
The Northwest women improved to 13-5 overall and 4-3 in MIAA play, while SBU fell to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in league duals.
Northwest gained the upper hand in the doubles action when its top squad of
Tania Teruel and
Marta Ferrando knocked off the nation's No. 8-ranked doubles squad of Jil Van Den Dungen and Klara Vickov, 7-5. Northwest's No. 2 doubles team of
Irene Recuenco and
Julia Aliseda posted a 7-6 tiebreaker victory over SBU's Constanca Crespo and Diana Cabrera.
Recueco secured a big win at No. 2 singles when she bounced back from a bagel in the second set to tally a 6-4 win over SBU's No. 40-ranked Crespo, 6-2, 0-6, 6-4. Recuenco is ranked No. 24 in the nation.

Julia Aliseda posted a straight-sets win over SBU's Cabrera at No. 4 singles, 7-5, 6-2.
Julie Rinderknech notched a three-set triumph over Sarah Brown at No. 5 singles, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3).
Sara Grozdanovic blew away SBU's Emma Davis at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
