SEARCY, Ark. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team secured its fourth straight dual victory with a 7-0 shutout of the Harding University Bisons Monday.
The Bearcats improved to 5-1 on the year by winning eight of the nine matches contested Monday at the David Elliott Tennis Complex.
Northwest took a 1-0 lead in the dual by scoring wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 duo of Majra Djokic and Polina Gontaryk took care of Harding's Mia Hosking and Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz, 6-3. Northwest's No. 3 pairing of Miru Nonaka and Chiharu Ito recorded a 6-3 win over Harding's Paula Rega and Natalia Alvarez.
Northwest managed five straight-sets wins in singles and one three-set triumph against Harding. Nonaka went the distance at No. 1 singles vs. Harding's Karli Roux, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
Northwest will return to action Tuesday for an MIAA dual against Arkansas-Fort Smith. The match is slated to start at 11 a.m.
