MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 12-ranked University of Nebraska-Kearney escaped with a 4-3 dual win over the Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team in a home MIAA dual Saturday on the Bearcat campus.
The Lopers overcame a 1-0 deficit in doubles and captured four singles wins to slide past the Bearcats.
Northwest started strong in doubles by gaining wins from its No. 2 doubles duo of
Miru Nonaka and
Alva Norberg along with its No. 3 doubles pairing of
Anne Carvalho Pereira and
Carolina Oliveira.
No. 57-ranked
Alva Norberg came up with a three-set win over No. 18-ranked Narindra Ranaivo at No. 2 singles. Norberg dropped the first set, 6-0, but responded by taking care of business in the next two sets, 6-4, 7-5. Norberg gained her team-leading 11th singles win of the season with the win over the 18th-ranked Ranaivo.
Polina Gontaryk also secured a three-set win at No. 3 singles over UNK's Alexis Bernthal.
