HAYS, Kansas - The No. 24-ranked Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team improved to 15-5 on the season with a 7-0 win at Fort Hays State on Friday.
Northwest tallied three wins in doubles to secure the dual point and a 1-0 lead. Northwest's No. 1 doubles team is
Marta Ferrando and
Tania Teruel, ranked No. 32 in the ITA rankings, scored a 6-4 win over FHSU's Lauren Lindell and Natalie Lubbers.
The Bearcats did not drop a set in the six singles matches. No. 24-ranked
Irene Recuenco posted a 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Lubbers at No. 2 singles. No. 69-ranked
Julia Aliseda topped FHSU's Ellea Ediger, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
The Bearcats moved to 6-3 in MIAA action.
Northwest will be in action Sunday as the men's and women's tennis teams take on Southeastern Oklahoma State in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
