Day 2 of the Bearcat Invite was another successful outing for Bearcat track and field at Hughes Fieldhouse.
Day 2 of the Bearcat Invite began with the conclusion of the men's heptathlon. Phil Elliot won the heptathlon with 4,346 points.
Kevin Schultz got the next Bearcat victory with a 7-0.25 foot jump.
Marcus Klein followed that up with a provisionally qualifying long jump of 23-04 and a third place finish.
Omar Austin and
Caelon Harkey placed first and second in the 400m.
Omar Austin posted a provisionally qualifying time of 47.62, which is a new Northwest record.
Cliff Nichols and
Collin Welch placed seventh and sixth in the 800m run. Welch's time of 1:53.36 is eighth all-time at Northwest and Nichol's time of 1:53.47 is ninth.
Brandon Phipps placed fourth in the 3,000m run with a time of 8:32.16. The men's 4x400m relay team of
Marcus Klein,
Caelon Harkey,
Kevin Schultz, and
Omar Austin placed second with a time of 3:13.29.
Haley Craig started the women's success on the day with a provisionally qualifying toss of 14.08m and a third place finish.
Mercedes Isaacson-Cover placed third in long jump with a 5.6m leap.
Hiba Mahgoub ran the 400m dash in a provisionally qualifying time of 56.44.
Jordan Hammond placed second in the 60m hurdles with a provisionally qualifying run of 8.67.
Addie Palser finished second in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:25.49. Mahgoub finished third in the 200m dash with a time of 24.93. Isaacson-Cover placed fourth in triple jump with a provisionally qualifying jump of 11.87m. The women's 4x400m relay team of
Jordan Hammond,
Hiba Mahgoub,
Mercedes Isaacson-Cover, and
Addie Palser placed first with a time of 3:49.92 which is the second-fastest time in Northwest history.
