EMPORIA, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State University track and field teams continued their outdoor season Friday by competing in the Midwest Classic & Multis hosted by Emporia State University.

Running Events
(M) 100-meter Dash: Freshmen
Kyle Emerson and
Isaiah Bates tied for sixth place with times of 10.55 (10.543), tying them both for the eighth-fastest time in school history.

(W) 100-meter Dash: Sophomore
Krysta Abel crossed the finish line with a time of 11.72, earning second overall – giving her the sixth-fastest time in Northwest history. Following right behind in third and fourth place were
Jaurdin Mallory and
Hallie Henfling with times of 11.73 and 11.86. Both Abel and Henfling set new personal bests.

(M) 110-meter Hurdles: Senior
Vashon Riggins earned a time of 15.27 which placed him fourth.

(M) 400-meter Hurdles: Freshman
Dylan Masters secured ninth place with a time of 58.89.

(M) 4x100-meter Relay: Northwest's 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of
Frank Sparks,
Cash Emgarten,
Isaiah Bates and
Kyle Emerson placed third with a time of 41.69. Their time marks the fastest 4x100-meter relay time from the Northwest men this season.

Field Events
(M) Shot Put: Sophomore
Demarii Williams secured third place overall with a new personal best of 16.31m (53-6.25) – beating his own 10th-farthest men's shot put in school history.Â

Unattached freshmen
Tyrus Smith and
Alex Wilson claimed second and eighth respectively. Smith had a throw of 16.77m (55-0.25) and Wilson had a throw of 14.65m (48-0.75). Had Smith been attached he would have earned the seventh-farthest men's shot put in Northwest's history.

(W) Shot Put: Freshman
Jordyn Matiyow recorded a throw of 12.06m (39-6.75) which earned her eight place and giving her a new personal best.

(M) Discus Throw:
Demarii Williams had a throw of 45.12m (148-0) earning him ninth place.

Unattached freshman
Ethan Gaschler captured the men discus throw title with a throw of 51.93m (170-4). Had Gaschler been an attached competitor he would've secured the seventh-farthest discus throw in school history.
Tyrus Smith, also competing as unattached, had a throw of 45.89m (150-6) which earned him seventh place.

Jordyn Matiyow set a new personal best with a throw of 37.35 (122-6) and secured 14th place.

(M) Hammer Throw: With a throw of 56.00m 183-08,
Josh Shelly claimed fourth place.

(W) Hammer Throw: Junior
Margherita Sala had a throw of 45.63 (149-8) earning her 11th overall.
Alli Poage placed 15th with a throw of 42.29m (138-9).

Northwest track and field will compete at the two-day UCM Kip and Kirk Outdoor Mule Relays hosted by the University of Central Missouri on April 9 and April 10 in Warrensburg, Mo, along with taking its talents to the Arkansas Spring Invitational hosted by University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. on April 11.
