The Northwest Missouri State University men's cross country team put together the best performance in program history with a fifth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championship in Sacramento, California.

Northwest's Karim Achengli and Jhordan Ccope notched All-America honors and led the way with a pair of top-10 finishes. Achengli placed sixth overall (29:52.5), while Ccope took ninth (30:04.1).

Augostine Lisoreng narrowly missed All-America honors with a 41st place finish (30:44.1).

Mike Lagat took 67th (31:12.1) and Jake Norris placed 124th (31.48.4).

"I couldn't be more proud of how we went out and competed today as a team," coach Nick Gibson said. "The race went out really fast and we stayed patient and worked our way up the race. It was a big step for our program moving forward."
