Cross country competes in Chile Pepper Festival

Story Highlights
- The Northwest Missouri State cross country teams competed in the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday.
- The men finished 10th out of 27 schools in the college ranks, while the women placed seventh out of 25 teams in the collegiate division.
- The meet was hosted by the University of Arkansas and held at Agri Park in Fayetteville, Ark.
- Top finishers for the Bearcats were Anne Herbert (42nd) and Wick Cunningham (86th).

Men's Race Highlights (Northwest finished 10th with 268 points)
- Cunningham (25:41.5) finished 86th in the men's eight-kilometer race.
- Ryan Cox (26:30.3) and Tim Grundmayer (26:32.3) finished 163rd and 169th, respectively.
- Johnny Harley (26:36.1) finished 176th, while Joe Anger (26:56.1) rounded out the Bearcats' top five in 206th.
- A total of 429 runners took to the course in the men's race.

Women's Race Highlights (Northwest finished 7th with 215 points)
- Herbert finished 42nd with a time of 17:35.7.
- Samantha Laurenzo (18:49.8) finished 153rd and Jessica Johnson (18:57.2) finished 164th.
- Brooklyn Ellis completed the course in 19:12, good for 185th, while Katie Bush finished 199th with a time of 19:23.8.
- 375 women took part in the five-kilometer race.
- Missouri Southern won the college division race with 60 points.

Up Next
- Northwest has next weekend off and will travel to Hays, Kan. on Oct. 18th to compete in the Tiger Open.
