Cross country team runs in Hays

Story Highlights
- The Northwest Missouri State cross country teams competed in the Tiger Open on Saturday.
- The meet was hosted by Fort Hays State University and held at Sand Plum Nature Park in Victoria, Kan.
- The men's team finished 12th in the Gold Race, which consisted of 17 NCAA teams. The women finished tenth out of 17 teams.
- Top finishers for the Bearcats were Anne Herbert (fifth) and Drew Keefer (27th).

Men's Race Highlights (Northwest finished 12th with 310 points)
- Running unattached, Drew Keefer finished 27th with a time of 24.35.6, while Nolan Zimmer (24:37.5) finished 31st.
- Wick Cunningham (24:57.2) finished 48th and Ryan Cox (59th) ran the course in 25:07.6.
- Kit Anderson (111th) finished in 26:07.6, just before Joe Anger finished 118th in 26:14.1.
- Tim Grundmayer (26:32.8) rounded out the top five for Northwest in 138th.
- A total of 201 runners took to the course in the men's race.
- Colorado Mines won the race with 33 points.

Women's Race Highlights (Northwest finished tenth with 255 points)
- Herbert's earned her fifth place finish with a time of 17:36.9.
- Brooklyn Ellis (18:45.3) finished 45th and Jessica Johnson (19:21.7) finished 73rd.
- Samantha Laurenzo completed the course in 19:25.7, good for 76th, while Chloe Haffarnan finished 84th with a time of 19:36.
- 143 women took part in the five-kilometer race.
- Adams State won the race with 33 points.

- After a few weeks to prepare, Northwest will head to Bolivar, Mo. to compete in the MIAA conference championship on Nov. 8.
