AZUSA, Calif. - The Northwest Missouri State University track & field teams put up quality marks including
Prince Griffin's NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 400-meter dash Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Prince Griffin secured an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the men's 400-meter dash. Griffin covered the 400m in a time of 47.77. His time ranks as the 10
th-best in Northwest's outdoor history. Griffin's previous career-best in the 400 came indoors at the 2022 MIAA Championships in Hughes Fieldhouse (48.45). His previous personal-best outdoors was 48.78 at the Loper Twilight on May 15, 2021.
The men's 4x100 relay team of
Enrico Cavagna,
Joel Dos Santos,
Prince Griffin and
Marcus Klein took first place with a time of 41.05.
Enrico Cavagna recorded the ninth-best time in Bearcat outdoor history in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.69, which placed him 15th in the meet. His previous personal-best of 10.86 came at the 2022 ESU Relays.
Marcus Klein competed in the men's 100m and posted a time of 10.71. Klein placed 18th in the meet.
Lexie Gilbert came in with a 12.26 clocking in the women's 100-meter dash.
Thursday, April 14 - Bryan Clay Invitational
Sophomore
Anna Gladstone (Grant City, Mo.) scored a personal-best 4,601 points in the women's heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Gladstone's previous best in the heptathlon was 4,238 points. Her point total of 4,601 points earned her an NCAA Division II provisional qualification.
Gladstone posted another personal-best in the 800m run to cap the heptathlon. Gladstone ran a time of 2:28.69 – bettering her previous mark of 2:35.07. Gladstone tallied 709 event points in the 800m.
Bailey Blake ran a time of 2:10.53 – missing her personal-best time by .14 – in the women's 800m run. It is Blake's best outdoor time of her collegiate career in the 800m.
Wednesday, April 13 - Bryan Clay Invitational
Sophomore
Anna Gladstone took part in the women's heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. Gladstone competed in the "B Division" at the event. Gladstone tallied 2,832 points on day one as she tallied a trio of personal bests.
Gladstone scored 775 event points in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.51. Gladstone's previous career-best time in the 100 hurdles was 16.04.
Gladstone netted 712 points in the high jump with a best height of 1.58m (5'2¼"). She also tallied a personal-best in the high jump outperforming her previous mark of 1.57m (5'1¾").
Gladstone performed well in the shot put earning a throw of 10.80m (35'5¾") to tally 582 event points. It was her best ever throw outdoors, topping her previous best by more than two full meters (nearly seven feet). Through three events, Gladstone had posted 2,069 points.
She finished her final event of the day, the 200m dash, with a time of 26.39 to earn 763 event points. It marked her third personal-best of the competition as her previous top time in the 200m came at 26.58.
Junior
Caroline Cunningham claimed the Northwest outdoor school record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Cunningham cruised to a time of 10:29.75, which ranks as the third-best time in the nation this season among NCAA Division II competitors.
Cunningham bested the old Bearcat outdoor women's school record of 10:31.13 set by Brittany Poole on April 28, 2012, while improving on her NCAA provisional qualifying time. Cunningham's previous best time in the 3,000m steeplechase was 10:57.69, which she ran on March 19 at the ESU Spring Invite in Emporia, Kan.
Cunningham placed 11th in the race and second among NCAA Division II runners. West Texas A&M's Eleonara Curtabbi placed fourth with a time of 10:09.85.
Senior
Tucker Dahle represented the Bearcats in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase Wednesday night in Azusa. Dahle ran a time of 9:18.71.
