Story Headlines- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team dropped an MIAA doubleheader to Missouri Western on Friday evening in St. Joseph.
- The Bearcats dropped the first game, 6-5, in eight innings and lost the second game, 4-3, in nine innings.
- Game two included a 45 minute rain delay due to lightning in the top of the seventh inning.
- Northwest finishes the regular season with a 20-28 overall record and a 15-21 mark in league play. The Griffons improved to 29-19 overall and 22-14 in MIAA action.

Game One Key Statistics (Missouri Western 6, Northwest 5)- The Bearcats had five runs on nine hits with no errors. Northwest scored one run in the first, one in the fifth and three in the seventh.
- Missouri Western scored six runs on 11 hits with two errors. The Griffons scored three in the third, one in the fifth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth.

Paul Johnson went 4-for-4 with a double. He had two RBI and a run scored.

Garrett Fort was 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored.
Steven Garber was 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Nick Gotta was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a walk.
Kolby Greenslade was 1-for-4.

Brad Roberts started the game and went 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He did not allow a walk.

Patrick Brady went 3.2 innings, allowing just one run on two hits with three strikeouts.
Carson Smith pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He had a pair of strikeouts.

Game One Key Innings- With one out in the top of the first, Fort hit a triple deep into the gap in left center field. Johnson came up next and hit a towering double off the left field wall to make it 1-0 Bearcats.

- Greenslade led off the top of the fifth with a single to left. Gotta grounded into a fielder's choice but after Greenslade was forced at second, the second baseman overthrew to first, allowing Gotta to go to second. Fort singled to short left field, putting runners on the corners with one out. With the count at 1-1, Johnson singled to left, scoring Gotta making it 3-2 Missouri Western.

- Gotta led off the seventh with a single to left but was forced out on a fielder's choice on a grounder from Fort. Johnson singled to left moving Fort to second with one out. Garber went opposite field with a single to left, scoring Fort to make it 4-3 Griffons. Two batters later with two outs, Wilkinson lifted a ball to deep center that the centerfielder dropped, clearing the bases to put Northwest up 5-4.

Game Two Key Statistics (Missouri Western 4, Northwest 3)- Northwest scored three runs on 12 hits with one error. The Bearcats got two runs in the fourth and one in the seventh.
- The Griffons scored four runs on 12 hits with one error. Missouri Western scored two runs in the third, one in the fourth and one in the ninth.

Austin Wulff was 4-for-5 with a run scored and a pair of doubles.
- Johnson was 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Luke Wilkinson was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
- Greenslade was 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk and a stolen base.

Steven Garber was 1-for-3 with a run scored and also drew a pair of walks. Gotta was 1-for-5 in the second game.

Nikko Pablo started and went 3.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He did not issue a walk.

Austin Battaglia pitched 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing three hits with no walks. He struck out one.

Rob Henrichs pitched the final 3.1 innings, allowing just one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

Game Two Key Innings- Garber singled to lead off the top of the fourth to right center and moved to third on a Wulff double off the wall in left field. Wilkinson followed it with a single that got through the left side of the infield, scoring Garber and moving Wulff to third. With one out, Hardegree grounded out to second, allowing Wulff to score from third to tie the game, 2-2.

- Missouri Western opened the fourth with a solo shot to left and then proceeded to load the bases with no outs. But Battaglia came up with a big strikeout and then got a 4-6-3 twin killing to get out of the inning, keeping the score, 3-2.

- Johnson led off the top of the seventh with single to right center before the game was halted for about a 45 minute rain delay. After the break, Garber drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Wulff grounded into a double play, moving Johnson to third with two down. Wilkinson came up big with a single up the middle, scoring Johnson with the tying run.
