Sam Wornson has been named the Ban Johnson Baseball League Kevin McIntosh Family Player of the Week.
Wornson drove in eight runs, hit two homers and went 6-for-15 for his Regal Plastic squad in the Ban Johnson Baseball League. Wornson went 6-for-15 at the plate this past week.
Wornson (Smithville, Mo./Smithville HS) enjoyed a terrific junior season for the Bearcats as he hit .354 in 27 games played. Wornson tallied 28 RBI, scored 19 runs and hammered five homers as the Bearcats reached the NCAA postseason for the first time since the 2003 season.
Founded in 1927, the Ban Johnson Baseball League attracts talented college players at all levels - NCAA Div. I, II, III; NAIA and community colleges. The league runs from May 26-July 31 with 27 regular season games followed by the playoffs. Games are played at Creekside Baseball Park in Parkville, Mo.
