Catching Up with Bearcat baseball in summer league action

The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team continued to produce action across the United States in summer leagues.

Returning third-team all-MIAA performer John Connors played for the O'Fallon Hoots in the Prospect League. Connors played in 54 games, batting .365 with 55 runs scored and 44 RBI. Connors stole 13 bases and ripped four home runs. He tallied 18 multi-hit games, including four-hit efforts against the Cape Catfish (June 9) and vs. the Thrillville Thrillbillies (July 28).
 
Returner all-MIAA all-tournament team player Michael Good competed for the Catawba Valley Stars in North Carolina in the Old North State League and the Coastal Plains League. Good traveled through North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee during his summer action. Good hit .361 in 23 games. He scored 26 runs, knocked in 20 and drew 21 walks. He had eight multi-hit contests, including a 4-for-4 performance against the Tennessee Eagles (June 2). He reached base in 22 of the 23 games he played.
 
Bearcat newcomer Lucas Mercado played for the Thunder Bay Border Cats in the prestigious Northwoods League. Mercado is transferring to Northwest from Ouachita Baptist. Over the summer, Mercado pitched 24 2/3 innings and struck out 23 batters. He went 2-0 in 13 starts with a 6.93 earned run average.
 
Mercado was joined in the Northwoods League by future Bearcats pitcher Carter Boos (Duluth Huskies) and catcher Ayden Hadley (Thunder Bay Border Cats). Boos is a transfer from Omaha, while Hadley is a transfer from Sacramento State.
