Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Augustana University on Sunday at Morstad Field. 
 
Augustana improved its record to 2-0-1 while Northwest drops its record to 0-3-1.
 
Northwest went into halftime down 1-0 after Augustana's Madelyn White scored in the 28th minute off an assist from Delaney Awe. Earlier, Leyah Scott kept the match scoreless with saves on White shots in the fifth and eighth minutes, and the Bearcats answered with chances from Jenna Lloyd and Julia Coacher, including Lloyd's saved shot in the 12th minute. After the Vikings moved ahead, the half became more physical, with five fouls between 33rd and 43rd. Northwest also held through four Augustana attacking actions from 34th to 42nd, with Scott saving Nyla Tharp's shot in the 41st minute and three other attempts missing the frame before the half ended at 1-0.
 
Northwest kept Augustana off the scoreboard in the second half, while also creating several attempts on goal. The 'Cats had an attempt in the 55th minute from Lloyd before Lillie Shaw put a shot on goal in the 65th minute. Sadie Lilienthal added another chance at 68th, and the Bearcats closed the half with consecutive on-target shots from Coacher and Nyah Aware in the 80th minute, both saved by Linnea Larson. The second half finished scoreless, leaving Augustana with a 1-0 final result.
 
Scott played all 90 minutes in goal and made four saves while allowing one goal. Lloyd led Northwest with three shots and put one on goal. Coacher added two shots, including one on frame. 
 
The Bearcats will return home for their second home matchup of the season against Pittsburg State Sept. 12.
