ANDOVER, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State University women's golf team shot its second-lowest 36-hole score in program history as the Bearcats competed in the Newman Fall Women's Invite.
 
The tournament was played at Terradyne Country Club at a par-71 measuring 5,798 yards.
 
Northwest's two-round team score of 589 ranks as the second-best 36-hole tally in program history. The only better 36-hole score came when Northwest shot 587 at the Grace Shin Regional Preview on Oct. 7-8, 2024. Northwest tied for seventh Tuesday at the Newman Fall Invite. In the two-day event, Northwest collected 20 birdies and 105 pars.

Lauren Briggs continued her torrid play with the golf clubs as she fired a 1-under round of 70 to tie for third in the event. Briggs has placed in the top four at each of the three events Northwest has played in this fall. Briggs tied for third at the Newman Fall Invite with a 36-hole total of 141, which is the second-best individual 36-hole scoring mark in program history. Briggs's final round of 70 is tied for the seventh-best single-round total in the Bearcat record book.
 
Briggs knocked in four birdies in Tuesday's final round at No. 3, No. 6, No. 14 and No. 16. Briggs's eight birdies tied for the second-most birdies in the 85-player field. Briggs has produced nine career top-10 finishes and six top-five finishes as a Bearcat. This season she has placed fourth, tied for third and tied for third.

Clara Peake tied for 27th as she shot a final round 75. Peake had birdies at No. 8 and No. 14 on Tuesday. Peake finished with 148 shots in the two-round tournament.
 
Lexi Bartley knocked in a pair of birdies at No. 4 and No. 5 in her final round. Bartley fired a 3-over round of 74 for a 36-hole total of 149 (+7). Bartley tied for 33rd in the field. 

Wildah Jarestam gained birdies at No. 5 and No. 17 as she shot a final-round 76. Jarestam tied for 41st in the tournament with a 36-hole total of 151 (+9).
 
Northwest will compete again Oct. 5-6 at the Grace Shin Invitational to be held at the Golf Club of Edmond in Edmond, Okla.
