The No. 49-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team took down the No. 41-ranked Ouachita Baptist Tigers Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the 2026 MIAA/GAC Tournament held at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
The Bearcats, seeded No. 3 in the north division, secured four singles wins including a pair of three-setters to clinch the dual victory over the Tigers. OBU was the No. 2 seed in the south division.
Northwest advances to the MIAA semifinals to face the north division's top-seeded Washburn Ichabods Thursday at 2 p.m. The Ichabods are ranked No. 11 in the nation and hold a 16-5 record this season. Washburn moved to the semifinals with a 4-3 triumph over Northeastern State.
The Bearcats had to overcome a 1-0 deficit after the Tigers captured the doubles point. Ouachita Baptist notched doubles wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
Northwest turned it around in singles play by capturing four victories to secure the dual win.
Dominik Wijntjes returned to form with a three-set victory at No. 1 singles over No. 56-ranked Ramon Strassman. Wijntjes won the match, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Pavlo Vysotin collected a three-set triumph at No. 2 singles over OBU's Yarin Aebi, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
Bernardo Henriques put together a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 win at No. 4 singles vs. OBU's Mortiz Buss.
Jules Subra locked in a 6-2, 6-0 win against OBU's Aaron Osmond at No. 5 singles.
Northwest is 12-8 on the season.
