ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The No. 32-ranked Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team collected its 12th straight dual win with a 5-2 victory over Northeastern State University at the Genesis indoor courts.
Northwest moved its record to 13-1 overall and stayed perfect in MIAA duals at 4-0. Northeastern State dipped to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in league action.
The Bearcats opened up a 1-0 lead in the dual with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 pairing of
Majra Djokic and
Polina Gontaryk blasted its opposition with a 6-0 victory. The No. 3 duo of
Miru Nonaka and
Chiharu Ito breezed to a 6-1 triumph.
Northwest won four of the six singles matches which included wins from Gontaryk and Ito. Gontaryk and Ito have each won 12 consecutive singles matches in dual competition.
Northwest's 12-match dual winning streak is tied for the third-longest in program history.
