ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – A pair of nationally-ranked women's tennis foes battled for four hours-plus Friday at the Genesis indoor courts before the No. 25-ranked Augustana Vikings prevailed in a 4-2 win over the No. 32-ranked Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats.

The Bearcats saw their 12-match winning streak snapped as they dropped to 13-2 on the season. The Vikings moved to 16-2 overall

Northwest generated some early momentum in the matchup of ranked teams with a pair of tiebreaker wins in doubles to take a 1-0 dual lead. The No. 2 doubles' team of Majra Djokic and Polina Gontaryk withstood the challenge from Augie's Mia Garcia and Simone Karaouza, 7-6 (7-2). Djokic and Gontaryk moved their season record to 11-2.

The No. 3 duo of Miru Nonaka and Chiharu Ito took down Augie's Smilte Bakyte and Rhidaim Yang, 7-6 (7-4). It is the fifth straight doubles' win for Nonaka and Ito, as the Bearcats pairing is 10-4 on the season.

Augie stormed back in singles to take a 2-1 lead with wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

The Bearcats evened the dual at 2-2 when Miru Nonaka recorded a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Augie's Maria Fiacan at No. 1 singles. It is Nonaka's ninth singles' win of the season and sixth of the dual portion of the schedule.

The Vikings picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles from Chelsea Seidewitz over Northwest's Polina Agapitova to give Augie a 3-2 edge in the dual.

Augie was able to clinch the dual win at No. 2 singles following a three-set battle between Mia Garcia and Majra Djokic. Garcia took the first set, 6-3. Djokic bounced back to level the match with a 6-4 victory in the second set. Garcia held off Djokic in the final set, 7-5.
