MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Northwest Missouri State Baseball team crushed the Northeastern State RiverHawks, 14-0, in the opening game of its three-game series during the team's alumni day.
Northwest improved its record 28-13 and 18-9 in the MIAA while Northeastern State drops its record to 13-26 and 8-19 in the conference.
The Bearcats tied their all-time home run record for a single season, matching the 57 home runs set in 2025. The team wore its late 70s throwback jerseys in order to honor in honor of alumni day.
Northwest secured a decisive victory over NSU, finishing with a 14-0 shutout. The action began in the first inning when
Frank Gall walked and
Jeremiah Cabuyaban doubled down the left field line, scoring Gall.
John Connors then singled to bring Cabuyaban home. Later,
Sam Wornson hit a three-run homer, pushing the lead to 5-0 after one inning.
In the second inning, Cabuyaban walked and later scored on an RBI groundout by
Wilmer Jimenez, extending the lead to 6-0.
Chester Brooks homered in the third inning, adding another run for the 'Cats, making it 7-0.
The fourth inning saw Cabuyaban score again on a sacrifice fly by Connors, increasing the lead to 8-0.
Northwest added three more runs in the fifth inning.
Chester Brooks walked and scored on a triple by Gall, who then scored on a passed ball. Connors later doubled and was brought home by a Jimenez single, making the score 11-0.
In the sixth, Gall doubled and scored on a balk, followed by a two-run homer from
Jordi Ventura, pushing the lead to 14-0. Gall's score in the sixth inning also pushed his single-season runs to 62, surpassing the previous record of 61.
Pitcher
Ben Haug delivered a complete-game shutout, allowing just one hit while striking out eight, sealing the 14-0 victory for Northwest Missouri State over the RiverHawks. This marked Haug's first complete game and shut out of the season.

This game pushed Haug's all time complete game record to three games and shut out record to two. He allowed just one hit and issued three walks while striking out eight batters. Haug's control was evident as he threw 90 pitches, 56 of which were strikes, and he did not allow any earned runs. This victory improved his season record to 5-1.
Gall scored three runs and added two hits, including a double and a triple, in his performance. Cabuyaban crossed home plate four times and contributed two hits with a double. Ventura recorded two RBIs and hit a home run while adding another hit to his tally. Haug pitched a complete game, allowing just one hit and striking out eight over 7 innings.
