ARKANSAS CITY, Ark. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team came up short Friday in its season opener against the No. 18-ranked Midwestern State University Mustangs, 5-2.

Northwest's top doubles team of Gage Foltz and Dominik Winjntjes recorded a 6-3 victory over Midwestern State's Bruno Sanchez and Juan Duque. Sanchez and Duque entered the match ranked No. 11 in the nation in doubles.

The Bearcats tallied singles wins from No. 5 Antonin Leborne and No. 6 Hugo Alvarez Gonzalez. Both Leborne (W, 6-4, 6-3) and Gonzalez (W, 6-2, 7-6) won in straight sets.
