KEARNEY, Neb. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team rallied with four singles wins to post a 4-3 dual triumph over Colorado Mesa University Friday evening.
The Bearcats gained their first dual win of the season to even their mark at 1-1. Northwest is 6-0 all-time vs. Colorado Mesa.
The Mavericks gained the upper-hand early by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Northwest's No. 3 doubles duo of
Hugo Alvarez Gonzalez and
Bernardo Henriques landed a 6-4 win over CMU's Luke Burriesci and Andrew Lock.
The Bearcat comeback began at No. 2 singles when
Pavlo Vysotin went to a third-set super-tiebreak to withstand CMU's Diogo Manzano. Vysotin hung on for the 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 win.
Konstantin Feiel also gained a three-set triumph at No. 4 singles against CMU's William Leschig. Feiel won by scores of 5-7, 6-4, 1-0.
Jules Subra tied the dual at 3-3 with a straight-sets victory at No. 6 singles over CMU's Luke Burriesci, 7-5, 6-3.
Gonzalez came through in the clinching match at No. 5 singles with a hard-fought, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) triumph over CMU's Gavin Hutter.
