BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Southern Arkansas Muleriders recorded an 11-0, five-inning victory over the Northwest Missouri State University softball squad at the Alvy Early Classic Friday afternoon.
Northwest (3-4 overall) managed five hits but was unable to score, while the Muleriders (7-0 overall) capitalized with an 11-run performance, recording six hits and six stolen bases.
In the first inning, Northwest Missouri State managed to get
Mackenzie Mlnarik on base with a single and a stolen base, but could not capitalize as the inning ended scoreless. Southern Arkansas responded with three runs, highlighted by M. Leal's RBI triple and A. Rubio's RBI groundout, taking a 3-0 lead.
The second inning saw Southern Arkansas extend their lead with four unearned runs, capitalizing on a pair of errors. S. Luetticke reached on a fielding error, allowing two runs to score, and P. Endris followed with a two-RBI single to left, making it 7-0.
In the third, Southern Arkansas continued their offensive momentum. M. Leal and A. Rubio each contributed with RBI singles, followed by B. Reed's two-RBI double to right field, extending the lead to 11-0.
The Bearcats showed resilience in the fifth inning with
Sara Farlow and
Cora Schweitzer each singling to put two runners on base.
Jaeleigh Darnell drew a walk to load the bases, but Northwest could not bring any runs across, concluding their efforts in a shutout.
The Muleriders held their lead, securing an 11-0 victory over the Bearcats.
Mlnarik recorded two hits and stole a base. Farlow also collected two hits, contributing offensively with a perfect 2-for-2 performance.
Curstin Todd highlighted defensively, registering four assists at shortstop. Schweitzer made an impact as a pinch hitter, securing a hit in her only at-bat.
