Love's walk-off double moves Northwest past Arkansas Tech, 6-5

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - For the third time this season the Northwest Missouri State University softball squad posted a walk-off victory when Omara Love doubled home Mackenzie Mlnarik in the bottom of the seventh of a 6-5 win against Arkansas Tech.

Arkansas Tech took an early lead in the first inning with a two-run single by Miya Curry, putting them ahead 2-0. The Bearcats responded in the third inning, starting with Alexis Brown and Mackenzie Mlnarik reaching base on singles. Kaylee Cords then delivered a two-run single to tie the game. Timber Wilson grounded into a double play, but Love scored from third, giving the Bearcats a 3-2 lead after the third inning.

In the fifth inning, the Bearcats capitalized on a throwing error, allowing Love and Cords to score two unearned runs, to give Northwest a 5-4 lead. Arkansas Tech tied it up in the sixth with an RBI single by Anna Winkfield.

In the seventh, Mlnarik led off with a single and raced around to score on Love's double to right center for the 6-5 Bearcat victory.

Jadyn Streigle entered in relief for the Bearcats, pitching 3.0 innings while allowing two hits and an earned run with two walks and three strikeouts. Streigle faced 13 batters and threw 54 pitches, 31 of which were strikes. Rien Moore started the game, completing 4.0 innings and yielding five hits and four earned runs, alongside four walks and three strikeouts. Moore threw a total of 84 pitches, finding the strike zone 50 times against 21 batters faced.

Mlnarik contributed significantly with two hits and two runs in her four plate appearances. Love added to the team's efforts by scoring two runs and driving in one with a double. Cords was efficient at the plate, recording two hits and two RBIs in her three appearances.
