PUEBLO, Colo. – A two-homer game from
Jeremiah Cabuyaban and a five-run sixth inning propelled the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team to a series-clinching 6-5 victory over the Colorado State University-Pueblo ThunderWolves at Rawlings Field.
Cabuyaban launched a solo home run in the fifth inning and followed it with a three-run bomb in the sixth inning, leading the Bearcats to their third win of the four-game series with the ThunderWolves. He went 4-for-5 with four RBI and scored two runs. Cabuyaban has hit a team-high tying four home runs this season.
Leonardo May earned the win to move to 2-1 after tossing two innings of scoreless relief in the fourth and fifth innings.
Ben Haug gained his first collegiate save as he worked the final two innings. He allowed two base runners in the ninth but got Pueblo's Kyle Miller to fly out to center field for the game's final out.
Northwest won three of four against Pueblo for its second winning series of the season.
Northwest (8-4 overall) will play its first home games, and MIAA contests, of the season this Thursday and Friday against Fort Hays State. The series has been moved to a doubleheader Thursday beginning at 11 a.m., followed by the final game of the series on Friday at 1 p.m.
