MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team scored a walk-off win in game one, 11-10, and held a 7-6 lead in the top of the eighth in game two when darkness halted play.
The Bearcats rallied from a 9-3 deficit to score an 11-10 walk-off win over Fort Hays State in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Bearcats secured a narrow 11-10 victory over Fort Hays State University as they recorded 14 hits, including two home runs, to secure the win despite committing three errors.
John Connors delivered five hits, including the game winner with one out in the ninth.

Northwest and Fort Hays State exchanged runs in the first inning.
John Connors homered to right field, countering an RBI single by E. Ordonez that put the Tigers on the board. The score was tied 1-1 after the first inning.

In the third inning, Fort Hays State regained the lead when D. Woolwine's sacrifice bunt allowed C. Howell to score, bringing the score to 2-1.

The fifth inning saw the Bearcats leveling the game once again.
Frank Gall tripled to left center, scoring pinch-runner
Brody Hufft, followed by a Connors single that drove in Gall. The score was tied at 3-3 by the end of the fifth inning.

Fort Hays State capitalized on errors in the sixth inning, scoring five runs highlighted by a two-run homer from G. Cook. This put them ahead 8-3.

Northwest narrowed the gap in the seventh inning with a two-run homer by Gall and a sacrifice fly by
Wilmer Jimenez, which scored Connors. The score was 9-6 in favor of the Tigers by the end of the seventh inning.

In the eighth inning, Fort Hays State added a run on a fielder's choice, but the Bearcats responded with three runs. Connors, Gall, and Jimenez each contributed with RBI hits, bringing the score to 10-9.

Northwest completed the comeback in the ninth inning. Gall's single drove in
Chester Brooks, and Connors followed with an RBI single to secure an 11-10 victory for the Bearcats over the Tigers.

Ben Haug delivered a solid starting performance for the Bearcats, pitching five innings and allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six and issuing three walks.
Jase Johnson closed the game with 1 1/3 innings, striking out 2 and allowing 2 hits without surrendering a run. to gain the win and move to 3-00 on the season.

Gall recorded four hits, including a home run and a triple, while driving in four runs. Connors added five hits, scored three times, and matched Gall with four RBIs, also hitting a home run.
Leonardo May contributed two hits, reached base three times, and crossed the plate twice.
GAME TWO
Northwest put together a six-run third inning to take a 6-3 lead before FHSU rallied with three runs in the sixth to tie the game. Northwest took a 7-6 lead on fielder's choice groundout by
John Connors in the seventh.
The game was halted in the top of the eighth by darkness.
Game two will be resumed at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Game three of the series will begin 25 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
