KEARNEY, Neb. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team scored a 5-2 dual win over Colorado Mesa University in a non-conference matchup Friday.
Northwest moved its season record to 2-1 and improved to 5-0 all-time vs. Colorado Mesa.
The Bearcats gained a 1-0 advantage by taking two of the three doubles matches. Northwest's No. 1 pairing of
Michelle Kostadinova and
Polina Agapitova notched a 6-2 triumph. The Bearcats's No. 3 duo of
Polina Gontaryk and
Majra Djokic were pushed to a 7-5 win to clinch the doubles' point.
Djokic collected a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over CMU's Valentina Gonzalez at No. 2 singles.
Chiharu Ito netted a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victory against CMU's Jade Brilhante at No. 3 singles.
Gontaryk scored a 6-2, 6-2 trimph vs. CMU's Catalina Ballon at No. 5 singles to clinch the dual win for the Bearcats.
Agapitova finished the dual with a 6-1, 7-5 win against CMU's Jane Steur at No. 6 singles.
