MANSFIELD, Texas — The Northwest Missouri State University softball team wrapped up his play Sunday at the Lone Star D2 Classic with a 6-2 setback against the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons.
UMSL (3-2) scored all six of its runs in the second and third innings. Northwest Missouri State managed seven hits, including two doubles, but could not overcome the early deficit.
Northwest went 2-3 in its five games at the Lone Star D2 Classic.Â
In the second inning, UMSL capitalized on their offensive opportunities, scoring three runs. Pasqualini's RBI single was followed by a hit from Widule that brought in two more runs, putting the Tritons ahead 3–0. In the third, UMSL continued their offensive momentum with three additional runs. Sullivan and Pasqualini were pivotal, each driving in runs to extend their lead to 6–0.
Northwest Missouri State responded in the fourth inning.
Mackenzie Mlnarik's single and subsequent stolen base set the stage for
Omara Love's RBI single, scoring Mlnarik.
Timber Wilson then hit a ground-rule double, driving in another run to make it 6–2. Despite this effort, UMSL held its lead. The remainder of the game saw strong defensive plays from both teams, with no additional runs scored, resulting in a 6–2 victory for the Tritons.
Olivia Moyer started the game for Northwest Missouri State, pitching 2.0 innings and allowing three runs, two of which were earned, on five hits while striking out one and walking one.
Erika Gore came in as a reliever, pitching an inning and surrendering three earned runs on three hits with a strikeout.
Rien Moore provided stability from the bullpen, pitching 3.0 scoreless innings without allowing a hit, striking out a pair, and walking one.
Timber Wilson posted two hits, including a double, and drove in one run.
Mackenzie Mlnarik recorded two hits, scored once, and added a double.
Omara Love contributed with one hit and one RBI during her three plate appearances.
Emma Hague, in her role as a pinch hitter, tallied one hit and successfully stole a base.
