FULTON, Mo. - The No. 45-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 dual win over NAIA foe William Woods Tuesday.
The Owls are ranked No. 19 in the latest NAIA ITA team rankings. William Woods fell to 11-7 overall, while Northwest moved its season mark to 10-7 overall.
Northwest secured five singles wins after William Woods captured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
No. 21-ranked
Dominik Wijntjes continued his winning ways with his ninth consecutive singles victory. Wijntjes posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over No. 37-ranked Noah Burton at No. 1 singles. Wijntjes is 15-2 in dual play this spring.
No. 75-ranked
Antonin Leborne scored a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 singles. Leborne is 14-2 in dual singles action this spring.
Vini Rodrigues secured a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles against WWU's Aoi Ooka. Rodrigues improved to 13-8 in singles this season.
Niccolo Chiriatti tallied a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles over WWU's Thomas Geukemeijer. Chiriatti is 10-10 on the year.
Hugo Alvarez Gonzalez worked over WWU's Jesper Seger at No. 5 singles by a count of 6-1, 7-5. It was Gonzalez's second singles win this season.
