MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team secured a 5-2 dual win Saturday over the No. 36-ranked University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers on the Grube Courts at the Rosewell Tennis Complex.
The Bearcats moved to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in GAC/MIAA dual play. The Lopers dipped to 7-12 overall and 0-2 in league duals.
Northwest and UNK battled tooth and nail in the doubles play with the Bearcats coming through with a pair of tiebreak triumphs at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles duo of
Dominik Wijntjes and
Antonin Leborne scored a 7-6 (7-1) win over UNK's Tom van den Dungen and Aaron Osmond. The No. 3 doubles pairing of
Rafal Bednarczuk and
Vini Rodrigues slipped past UNK's Andy Brisdon and Jip Mens by the count of 7-6 (7-5).
No. 25-ranked Wijntjes notched his sixth consecutive singles victory with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles over UNK's Adrian Constantin. Wijntjes improved his season mark to 14-3 overall and 12-2 in dual play. He is 6-2 at No. 1 singles and 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Luc Mascitti delivered a 6-2, 6-3 win over UNK's Ivan Melnik at No. 3 singles.Â

Antonin Leborne put up a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over UNK's Tom van den Dungen at No. 4 singles. Leborne improved to 11-2 in singles dual play this spring.
Vini Rodrigues secured a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles over UNK's Aaron Osmond.
