MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in MIAA play with a 1-0 shutout victory over the visiting University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos Friday afternoon at the Bearcat Pitch.

McKenna West netted a first-half goal on an assist from Margaret Madden and Lily Ellis registered her 31st career shutout.

The first half opened with Northwest Missouri State establishing an early lead. Makenna West capitalized on an opportunity in the 13th minute, scoring with an assist from Margaret Madden to put the Bearcats ahead. Goalie Lily Ellis was instrumental in maintaining the advantage, making several key saves against UCO's attempts, including stopping shots from Becca Tweedy and Elena Conaway. Despite multiple corner kicks and offensive efforts from the Bronchos, the Bearcats held firm, closing the half with a 1-0 lead.

The second half commenced with Northwest Missouri State maintaining a 1-0 lead from the first half. Central Oklahoma applied early pressure, but Ellis made crucial saves to keep the opposition at bay, including stops against Megan Wilson and Caleah Carter shortly after the break. Makenna West and Abby Overbay attempted to extend the lead but missed their targets.

As the half progressed, UCO continued to press forward, yet Ellis remained steadfast, making additional key saves, notably against Sheridan Ross and Greta Likens. Northwest Missouri State generated opportunities through corner kicks and shots from Maddie Gemeinhardt and Berkleigh Salmond, though they did not convert. The half concluded without additional goals, securing a 1-0 victory for Northwest Missouri State.
