SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball squad dropped a three-set decision to Alaska-Anchorage Friday in the Augustana Classic at the Sanford Pentagon.
 
Alaska-Anchorage won by set scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-23. Alaska-Anchorage moves to 2-2 on the season, while Northwest falls to 0-2.
 
In the opening set, the Seawolves hit .143 with five errors. Northwest hit .073 with 10 attack errors. The match was tied 13-13 when Alaska-Anchorage used a 4-1 spurt to take control of the set. Northwest cut the lead to one on two occasions but could not draw even as Alaska-Anchorage scored a 25-22 win.
 
The Bearcats struggled offensively in the second set with 10 attack errors and hit minus-.056 with only eight kills. The Seawolves tallied 11 kills with four errors for a .250 attack percentage. The Seawolves bounced out a 4-0 lead and did not trail in the second set en route to a 25-14 triumph.
 
The Seawolves closed out the 3-0 victory with a 25-23 win in the third set. UAA hit .294 in the third with 14 kills and four attack errors for a .294 hitting percentage.
 
UAA hit .233 for the match, while Northwest struggled offensively and hit .083 with 37 kills and 27 attack errors. UAA enjoyed a 9-5 advantage in blocks for the match.
 
Abby Brunssen tallied a team-high 14 kills and hit .435 for the match. Olivia Dir notched 11 kills for her second straight double-digit kill effort. Kyah Luhring secured a team-best 10 digs and handed out six assists from the libero spot. Ella Caffery dished out 14 assists, while Natalie Laiolo handed out 14 assists as the duo shared in setting duties.
 
The Bearcats will be back in action later tonight at 6 p.m. against tournament-host Augustana.
