SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team came up on the short end of a 3-1 setback to the Augustana University Vikings at the Augustana Classic in the Sanford Pentagon.
Augustana won by set scores of 23-25, 13-25, 18-25, 23-25. Augustana improved to 2-1 on the year, while Northwest fell to 0-3.

Kristen Ford recorded 14 digs and surpassed the 1,000-dig mark. Ford has totaled 1,002 career digs as a Bearcat.
Olivia Dir notched her seventh career double-double with 19 kills and 22 digs.
Northwest battled back to take the opening set, 25-23. Northwest trailed 22-20 late in the set, but scored five of the final six points to score its first set win of the season. Dir contributed six kills to the first-set win.
Augie did not trail in the second set and posted a 25-13 win to even the match at 1-1. Northwest hit minus-.029 with eight kills and nine errors. Augie hit .281 with 12 kills and only three attack errors.
Northwest's only lead of the third set came at 1-0. Augie bounced out to a 12-5 lead and did not look back in gaining a 25-18 triumph. Dir tallied four kills in the third set, but Northwest hit only .125 with 14 kills and eight attack errors. Augie also put up 14 kills but hit .308 with only two attack errors.
The Bearcats were poised to force a fifth set that featured eight ties and five lead changes. Augie held a 10-7 advantage only to see Northwest use an 8-1 run to take a 15-11 lead. Augie was able to draw even at 18-18. The Bearcats held one-point leads at 20-19, 21-20 and 22-21. The Vikings did not fold and overcame the late deficit to claim the 25-23 match triumph.
Northwest will close out the Augustana Classic against South Dakota Mines Saturday at 11:15 a.m.
