SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team captured its first victory of the season with a 3-1 triumph over the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers at the Augustana Classic held at the Sanford Pentagon.
 
Northwest won by set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-19. Northwest is 1-3 on the year and South Dakota Mines is 1-3.
 
Senior Abby Brunssen collected a career-best 20 kills in leading the Bearcats to the victory. Senior Olivia Dir gained her third double-double of the year and eighth of her career with 17 kills and 13 digs. Natalie Laiolo also put up a double-double with 23 assists and 15 digs. Kristen Ford notched a team-best 17 digs. Kate Frakes registered a team-high six block assists.
