EMPORIA, Kan. - The nationally-ranked Northwest Missouri State women's and men's tennis teams recorded dual wins at Emporia State Friday afternoon.

The No. 17-ranked Bearcat women secured a 5-2 win, while the No. 40-ranked Northwest men edged the Hornets, 4-3.

The Northwest women are 16-1 on the season and the Bearcat men are 10-5.

WOMEN'S RESULTS
The Bearcat women won their sixth straight dual with a 5-2 triumph over Emporia State.

Northwest had to overcome giving up the doubles point to the Hornets, but the Bearcats stormed back with five victories in singles to claim the dual. Northwest won all five of the singles matches that were contested on Friday, including a trio of three-set victories at No. 1 Carolina Oliveira, No. 3 from Marielena Muench and No. 4 Laura Prieto Sieiro.

MEN'S RESULTS
The Northwest men had to dig deep to score a 4-3 win over the Emporia State Hornets.

The Bearcats gained a crucial point in doubles when the No. 36-ranked team of Andrea Zamurri and Vini Rodrigues won at No. 2 doubles and Martin Sanchez and Mason Meier were victorious at No. 3 doubles.

Northwest needed the doubles point as ESU was able to gain three points with wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Northwest's only straight-sets victory came at No. 3 singles from Meier.

The Bearcats had to battle for three-set wins at No. 1 singles from No. 25-ranked Zamurri over No. 48-ranked Anton Sarunic (6-3, 2-6, 6-0) and at No. 2 singles from Michael Delebois against ESU's Mostafa Elbasnaly (6-2, 5-7, 6-4).

The Northwest tennis teams will be back in action Saturday against Newman. The action will get underway in Wichita, Kan., at noon.
