GAME ONE
The Bearcats took game one behind the three-run homer from Gahan and a complete game from starting pitcher
Jadyn Streigle, 3-0.
Gahan provided the offensive punch with a two-out, three-run homer in the second. It was Gahan's third home run of the season.
Streigle pitched her 10th complete game of the season in improving to 9-9. Streigle tossed six shutout innings before Lions rallied for a run in the seventh. She allowed five hits and struck out one MSSU batter.
GAME TWO
Gahan came through again in game two with both RBI and the pitching duo of
Hayden Simmons and
Breck Dickey stymied the MSSU hitters.
Gahan delivered a two-out, two-run single in the second inning for all of Northwest's offense again.
Simmons got the win in the circle by pitching into the fifth inning. Simmons gave up three hits and one run (unearned) as she struck out three MSSU batters.
Dickey relieved Simmons in the fifth and struck out the side as she left the tying run stranded at third. Dickey retired all nine batters she faced and picked up her second save of the season.
Northwest will be at home on Wednesday for a doubleheader against William Jewell before heading to Lincoln and Central Missouri to wrap up MIAA regular season play.
