ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The No. 41-ranked Missouri Western Griffons scored a 5-2 dual win over the No. 17-ranked Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team Friday at the Noyes Courts.
The Griffons improved to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in MIAA play. The Bearcats drop to 19-2 overall and 5-1 in MIAA dual action.
The Bearcats started strong by claiming the doubles point for a 1-0 lead. Northwest's No. 2 doubles team of
Tessa Kwakernaak and
Angela per Moreno posted a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. The Bearcat duo of
Marielena Muench and
Laura Prieto Sieiro gained a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
The Griffons turned the dual around by scoring five singles wins to take the dual, 5-2.
Northwest's one singles win came from
Angela per Moreno at No. 6 singles. The Bearcat tallied a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win over MWSU's Greta Langiu.
