MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 27-ranked Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team toppled the No. 9-ranked Washburn Ichabods in MIAA dual action Saturday on the Grube Courts at the Rosewell Tennis Complex.
The No. 38-ranked Bearcat men dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 6-ranked Washburn.
The Bearcat women are 15-1 on the season, while the Northwest men are 9-5 overall.

The Bearcats got off on the right foot when
Sofia Pignataro and
Carolina Oliveira took down No. 7-ranked Maja Jung and Lara Schmid at No. 1 doubles, 7-6. The Bearcats secured the doubles' point by winning all three matches as
Angela per Moreno and
Tessa Kwakernaak won at No. 2 doubles and
Marielena Muench and
Laura Prieto Sieiro were victoriious at No. 3 doubles.
Northwest took care of business in singles play by winning four of the six matches. Pignataro notched a three-set win over WU's Peyton Koper at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. Muench earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory over WU's Isabella Martensson at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4.Â
No. 75-ranked Prieto Sieiro put up a straight-sets win at No. 5 singles over WU's Lara Schmid, 6-3, 6-3. Per Moreno wrapped up the 5-2 dual win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over WU's Martine Carroll at No. 6 singles.
MEN'S RECAP
The No. 6-ranked Washburn Ichabods were able to secure a 7-0 dual win over the No. 38-ranked Northwest men.
The Ichabods gained the doubles' point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead.
The No. 1 singles match featured No. 12-ranked Tim Hammes against Northwest's No. 28-ranked
Andrea Zamurri. Hammes was able to record a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 victory. No. 13-ranked Sebastian Pjontek had to go three sets to score a win over Northwest's
Michael Delebois, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.
No. 38-ranked Santiago Rendon also secured a three-set win over Northwest's
Mason Meier, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
WU's Matthew Earle tallied another three-set win over Northwest's
Martin Sanchez at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6).
