MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State softball team dropped both games in Saturday's double header vs. the MSU Moorhead Dragons at Bearcat Softball Field. Northwest dropped game one 5-1 while game two ended at 9-3 in favor of the Dragons.
GAME ONE:
MSU Moorhead jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of singles in the top of the first inning. Â The Dragons tacked on two more in the top of the second to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
Northwest answered with a run in the bottom half of the second inning when
Lela Bryant drove in
Avery Mayberry on a single to center field.
The Dragons tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh with a Sac-fly to right field.
Northwest loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh but a strike out and a fly-out to right field ended it.
Jadyn Streigle got the loss for the Bearcats; she falls to 4-5 on the year.
Teagan Clemmons got the win for the Dragons.
All five Dragon runs were unearned.
Northwest tallied eight hits and left 10 runners on base.

GAME TWO:
MSU Moorhead jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning after seven straight walks to start the game.
Northwest answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the first when
Skylar Pieper drove in
Lillie Filger on an RBI groundout to cut the Dragon lead to 6-1.
The Bearcats added another run in the fourth inning when
Gaige Pinkerton singled home
Abby Nolte to get within five runs at 7-2.
In the bottom of the fifth inning Pieper tallied her second RBI of the game with a double down the right field line scoring Filger again.
MSUÂ Moorhead added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh with a two-out, two-RBI single to right field to extend the lead to 9-3.
Breck Dickey got the loss for the Bearcats.
Teagan Clemmons got the win for the Dragons.
Cassidy Paulson gave the Bearcats quality innings out of the bullpen; Paulson went 7.0 innings giving up three runs on seven hits.
Lillie Filger was 2-3 with a walk for the Bearcats.
Northwest is back in action tomorrow afternoon with a double-header at noon and 2 p.m. vs. Bemidji State.
