TOPEKA, Kan. - The Washburn University Ichabods blanked the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team in a seven-inning affair on Tuesday, 11-0.
The Ichabods moved to 12-8 overall and 8-2 in MIAA play. The Bearcats dropped to 8-14 overall and 1-9 in league action.
Washburn used a 13-hit attack to score runs in every inning but the fifth. Northwest was limited to four hits - all singles.
Bearcat starter
Brock Steggall (2-1) logged 2 1/3 innings. He allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits.
Jayme Fritts pitched 1 2/3 and allowed two hits and two runs.
George Fisher went 1 2/3 and gave up two hits and two runs (both unearned) Fisher struck out a team-high two Ichabod batters.
Fuga Yambe got the final out of the sixth and allowed a hit and a run (unearned).
Ryan Williams,
Kaehukai Young,
Cole Slibowski and
Jacob Selock each tallied a hit for the Bearcat offense.
Trey Morris drew a pair of walks. Young extended his hitting streak to five games. Selock has a hit in four straight games. Williams has a hit in 17 of the 21 games this season.
Northwest will be in action at home this weekend with a three-game set against the Missouri Western Griffons.
