The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team came up on the short end of a 2-1 decision Sunday to the Drury University Panthers at the Lou Fusz Complex.

Northwest tallied the first goal of the match in the 18th minute from Kaylie Rock. Ximena Arnau was credited with an assist on the goal that gave Northwest a 1-0 lead.

Drury would add goals in the 25th and 28th minutes to take a 2-1 lead to the break.

Neither squad could scratch across a goal in the second half and the Panthers took the 2-1 decision.

Northwest (0-1-1) will open the home season with matches Friday and Sunday at the Bearcat Soccer Pitch. Northwest will tangle with Augustana Friday at 3 p.m. and then match up with Sioux Falls on Sunday at 1 p.m.
