CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Northwest Missouri State softball squad dropped both games of the doubleheader against the No. 8 Rogers State Hillcats.

Northwest moved to 20-20 overall, 5-11 in conference play.
Â
Rogers State improved to 31-6 overall and 10-4 in MIAA action.

GAME ONE
Rogers State took game one by a score of 8-0 in five innings.
Â
The Hillcats scored one run in the bottom of the first to get out to an early 1-0 lead.
Â
In the second inning, RSU recorded an RBI double and then an RBI single to bring the score to 3-0 heading into the third.
Â
The Hillcats tallied five runs in the bottom of the fifth to bring the final score to 8-0 after five innings of play.
Â
Abby Nolte led the way for the 'Cats going 2-for-2 at the plate.
Lillie Filger and
Madison Friest were the other two Bearcats to record a hit in the game.

Jadyn Streigle took the loss allowing eight runs on 11 hits while striking out five Hillcats.

GAME TWO
Rogers State got on the board first in game two with a single to center field that brought in one run.
Â
The Hillcats struck again in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 2-0.

Northwest got its first run of the day in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single by
Lela Bryant that allowed
Skylar Pieper to cross the plate and bring it back to a one-run game at 2-1.

Rogers State started off the fourth inning with a solo shot to left center to give the Hillcats a 3-1 advantage. Later in the inning Rogers State hit another home run, this time a two-run homer which gave the Hillcats a 5-1 lead. RSU tacked on one more run in the inning with an RBI single up the middle.

The Hillcats added their seventh run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Rogers State ended up taking game two with a final score of 7-1.
Omara Love led the way with two hits for the Bearcats.Â
Breck Dickey took the loss going four innings and giving up six runs on eight hits. Dickey struckout two batters.Â
