FULTON, Mo. - The No. 11-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team tallied a 5-2 dual win over William Woods University.
The Bearcats improved to 12-5 while scoring the program's sixth straight dual win this season. William Woods, ranked No. 5 in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll, fell to 13-4 overall.
Northwest captured the doubles point by scoring wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles pairing of
Jan Skerbatis and
Fabien Calloud notched a 6-2 win over WWU's Ben Grumley and Vaclav Schneider. Northwest's No. 3 doubles team of
Simon Birgerson and
Vinnie Rodrigues secured a 6-3 triumph over WWU's Robert Schorr and Andres De Los Rios Kolejewska.
The Bearcats had a battle on their hands in singles action as five of the six matches went three sets. Northwest captured a trio of three-set wins
Fillippo Piranomonte bounced back from a first-set loss to tally a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win over WWU's Patrick Shelepov at No. 4 singles.
Mason Meier regrouped after a first-set defeat at the hands of WWU's Koejewska. Meier tallied a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles.
Simon Birgerson also came back from a set down to defeat WWU's Robert Schorr, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.

Fabien Calloud earned a straight-sets win at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Zinovii Nahrniak.
