MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State softball team split the doubleheader against Central Missouri Friday afternoon at the Bearcat Softball Field.

Northwest moved to 26-24 overall, 9-15 in MIAA play.
Â
Central Missouri moved to 32-17 overall and 16-8 in conference action.

GAME ONE
In the top of the third inning, Central Missouri was able to bring one run in off an error by Northwest. Later in the inning, the Jennies scored another run to take a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third.

The Bearcats were able to tie things up in the bottom of the fifth with a runner on first and
Lela Bryant at the plate. Bryant homered over the left field wall to bring the score to 2-2.

Both teams were held scoreless in the sixth inning, but UCM regained control in the top of the seventh.

With the bases loaded, the Jennies drew a walk which brought in one run. UCM then scored another run to put the Jennies up 4-2. Central Missouri scored its final runs of the day with a two RBI single to left field.

The Jennies took game one by a score of 6-2.

Lela Bryant led the 'Cats in hits with two.
Lillie Filger,
Abby Nolte, and
Madison Friest all recorded one run.

Jadyn Streigle pitched the full game tallying two strikeouts and allowing six runs on 12 hits.

GAME TWO
Central Missouri posted one run in the first inning off a sacrifice fly.

The Bearcats took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth as they tallied three runs. The first run came from an RBI single by
Lauren Gray, but another run crossed the plate on a throwing error by the Jennies. Northwest got its third run of the inning on an RBI single up the middle by
Lillie Filger.
Â
After four innings, Northwest led 3-1.

The 'Cats added to their lead after
Skylar Pieper hit a sacrifice fly to right field.
Â
In the top of the sixth with the bases loaded, Northwest was called for catcher's interference which brought home the runner on third. The score was then 4-2, Northwest.

In the bottom of the sixth the Bearcats extended their lead to 7-2.
Avery Anderson hit an RBI double to left center for the first run, and then
Olivia Daugherty smashed a two-run home run over the left center fence to give the 'Cats their seventh run of the game.

Central Missouri scored one run in the top of the seventh to bring the score to 7-3. With two outs and the bases loaded, Northwest pitcher
Hayden Simmons ended the game with a strikeout to seal the 7-3 win.

The 'Cats outhit UCM 11-7.
Lillie Filger,
Olivia Daugherty, and
Madison Friest all had a team best two hits in the victory.

Breck Dickey went 5.2 innings to get her eighth win of the season. Dickey had five strikeouts and gave up two runs on five hits.

Northwest will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Lincoln on Senior Day. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 12 p.m. at the Bearcat Softball Field.
