MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 12-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team disposed of the Newman University Jets with a 7-0 dual victory Saturday on the Grube Courts at the Rosewell Tennis Complex.
The Bearcats remained perfect in MIAA/GAC dual play by moving to 4-0. Northwest is 9-5 overall this season. Newman fell to 9-8 overall and 1-2 in MIAA/GAC dual matches.
Northwest won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 dual lead.
The Bearcats won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Only No. 55-ranked
Fabien Calloud was extended to a third set as he bested Newman's Pedja Kolaric at No.2 singles, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4.
At No. 5 singles,
Mason Meier withstood a strong challenge from Newman's Luca Penteado, 7-6, 7-6.
Northwest will return to action Sunday against No. 9-ranked Ouachita Baptist. The match will get underway at 1 p.m. on the Grube Courts.
